My name is Heather and my sister Danielle (Boonie), a mother of 4 including 3 grand-babies, was diagnosed on November 22, 2024 with Stage 3 breast cancer that metastasis to lymph nodes. On December 18, 2024 she underwent surgery for a single mastectomy and dissection of 9 lymph nodes. (Which 5 of these were cancer positive) Now she will be having surgery for port a catheter and will be doing weekly chemotherapy and radiation over the next 6-8 months. The fight is still not over for my sister. She has many co-pays and cannot work right now. On top of everything her car broke down and she has been dependent upon family and friends for rides to and from appointments. This journey she is continuing to embark on is both heartbreaking and extremely stressful. She has had one breast completely removed and is undergoing therapy to help her through this physical and mental hardship. As per treatment my sister will be losing her long hair, eyebrows, and possibly her nails. She will also be spending most days feeling sick, fatigued, helpless and insecure.
