Thank you for reading this.
As a mom, your health often takes a back seat and we neglect ourselves too much. That is Danielle's story. She is a single mom to a 16 year old son, and was busy with life, parenting, and trying to be the best mom to her boy, that she never took the time to get her health properly checked and has ended up with incurable metastatic cancer in her lymph nodes without a lot of options.
Why clinical trials? Danielle's last treatment stopped working and she is now trying another type of treatment, but we won't know if it's working until later in July (her next scans are July 14th), so we'd like to get the ball rolling on other potential treatment options so we have a back-up options available if needed.
Previously, Danielle had a medical second opinion completed in the winter through her work benefits and they recommended 2 different clinical trials in the US that would be a good option, and she had full support from her Canadian oncologist to inquire further. After inquiring into these trials, she has so far been accepted for one consultation with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), and we are waiting to hear back on the second trial with Mayo Clinic. It has been advised by the cancer institutions that the cost for each initial consultation alone is approximately $10k CAD out of pocket plus travel, food, and accommodation. If Danielle is accepted into the trial there will be scans, lab work, expensive medications, travel, & accommodations. We anticipate the trial itself costing anywhere from 50-100k CAD, but will know more definitively in July. We are looking to raise 50k so that money is no obstacle when it comes to pursuing her treatment quickly.
Anything over the initial consultation amount (10k CAD) will be put towards the trial amount (50k+), or refunded through GoFundMe's equal refund distribution program if she is not accepted (or we raise too much).
Danielle has very been fortunate to be able to manage it financially until now. She would appreciate anything that you are able to help out.
Many of you have passed along kind words and been all kinds of support over the last year. We are hugely grateful to how supportive you all have been to our family.health often takes a back seat and we neglect ourselves too much.
