Danielle's Kiddos

If you spend 5 minutes with Danielle, you'll know her passion is making a difference for little ones.  For as long as I can remember, she has been babysitting and spending time with kiddos over anything else.

Throughout high-school, college, and even now as a teacher, Danielle often spends her evenings and weekends with kids.  Whether it be coaching the soccer team or bringing a student rock climbing, Danielle loves to spend time with youngsters and has long dreamed of what it would be like when the time comes to start her own family.   This dream was dampened in August, when Danielle had surgery to remove and ovary.

In addition to this surgery, 2016 has been a tough year physically for Danielle.  In the last 9 months, Danielle has been to over 30 doctor appointments, diagnosed with severe acid reflux, broken her foot, had 2 eye surgeries (in hopes of restoring her sight in her left eye), and most recently this major abdominal surgery.

As you know there's not a lot that can slow her down.  Her schedule is always full and most of the time it's with some type of adventurous activity.  So being forced to take time off from Snowboarding, hiking, biking, and teaching has been incredibly hard.

The ovarian surgery is the reason for this page.  Long story short, Danielle had an ovary and fallopian tube removed due to being pre-cancerous.  She also had a portion of her remaining ovary removed.  She has been to see a fertility specialist and a geneticist - the good news is the pre-cancerous cells were not genetic and if they do not return later this month, she can start fertility treatments to freeze eggs and increase her chances of conceiving her own child when the time comes.  The bad news is that it is EXPENSIVE.

Not only does Danielle have a pile of existing medical bills from earlier this year, this fertility treatment is estimated to costs in the ballpark of $10-$25,000.  This is really tough on a teacher's salary with big student loan debt.

Danielle isn't one to ask for help or let alone let anyone know she's struggling.  That girl has a smile on her face 24/7 (and what a beautiful smile too)!  I was actually nervous about how she might respond to me starting this page, but as a good big sister -- I kinda just "TOLD her that I was doing it".

She still has a tough road ahead with recovering from the second eye surgery and making sure everything goes smoothly with the pre-cancerous cells not coming back, but knowing that she has the money to explore fertility options would really help ease her stress level.  And by the way -- what an AWESOME mama she'll make someday! :)

We all know that all kids are Danielle's kids and it wouldn't be the end of the world if she couldn't conceive on her own, but lets give her the chance.  Any help you can give in the form of prayers, time, love, or money would be greatly appreciated.
