Hi, my name is Chasity and I am creating this go fund me to help Danielle with travel and medical expenses while seeking treatment for Kane. Kane has been diagnosed with aortic syndrome and is being treated by a plethora of specialists at Bostons Children’s Hospital. Danielle is a nurse who has dedicated her life to taking care of others in various nursing roles. She is a single mom that works two jobs to try to support her family, seek the best treatment for Kane and still find time to be the best mother to all of her kids. If you feel it in your heart to give I know she will appreciate it. If you can’t contribute as we know this is a hard time for so many people please just keep them in your prayers in the days to come. Prayers for answers, treatment and days without pain and frustration for Kane as he battles this illness at such a young age. Thank you to everyone. Kane’s story is posted below.
Kane’s Story
Kane was diagnosed with Hypertension approx. 2 yrs. ago after multiple high readings at his regular check-ups, he was referred to Pediatric Nephrologist at MUSC who placed him on BP meds. After multiple tries at med changes they were unable to control his blood pressure and decided to send him for a CT of his chest and abdomen to see if there was something that was causing his blood pressure to remain high despite the medicine. We went for those CT’s on Nov 29th, 2022 and before we could leave the parking garage that day they called us to come back where we were then admitted into the PICU. We found out that Kane, 13yrs old, has multiple large clots in his arteries. These clots have caused serious medical issues (high BP and enlarged heart) for him, along with putting him at a high risk for more serious medical complications. He has had several hospital stays related to these issues. He has been placed on several medications to try to help keep his BP and Heart Rate controlled and his blood thinned. He continues to make several trips to Charleston every month for follow up visits and blood work with Cardiology, Hematology and Nephrology doctors. MUSC has ran all the test that they can to try to come up with a cause for these large clots and have been unable to find an answer, and have not been successful in reducing the clots using medication. Kane has now been seen by doctors at Duke and Boston’s Children’s Hospital. They are currently reviewing Kane’s case and coming up with the best and safest treatment plan for him. We are waiting on the phone call with his appointments to go to Boston where he will be evaluated by their team which will keep him in Boston for a week. After that a determination will be made on where he will be going for treatment of his issues. The preliminary diagnosis that have been made by these doctors are a variant of the Moyamoya disease (brain) and Mid – Aortic Syndrome.
