Hi, My name is Dani and I'm a Colombian-American, Low Income, First-Generation student from Queens, New York City.  I'm currently going to NYU for Film school and hoping to double major in Latinx studies. Due to the current circumstances, I lost my only source of income and so did my mother, who is a single mother and only worked part time. COVID-19 caused me to be unable to afford my tuition balance, loans, and money for equipment and softwares I need that I wont have access to, due to my university holding off giving students access to resources while still over charging students with fees and tuition increase. My mom cannot afford to pay for my school, and its my responsibility as an adult, daughter and human being to not put my educational stress and expenses on my low-income mother.  I've received scholarships, grants and TAP; yet it is still not enough to cover my education. I've asked my school for a Financial Appeal but my university has been declining students or not reaching out. As a low-income student, I have been working since my junior year of highschool, stressing about helping with bills, funding my higher education and having enough money for necessities. I've stressed about seeking a job and making income first, instead of focusing on my education, putting this financial burden on me. These funds will help me focus on my school year without a financial burden on my shoulders. Your contributions and help is so greatly appreciated, Thank you.
