Daniella Takchi's cancer fund
Donation protected
My baby sister, Daniella Takchi, (27 years old) was recently diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive type of breast cancer, called a Triple Negative (TNBC) putting her in a 10-percentile category of care. Since Nov 2016 when a lump was discovered in her breast, she's been in and out of hospital where tests and surgical procedures have taken place weekly. She will be starting chemo Thursday this week, 12th January 2017, on our dad's birthday.
Celebrating Christmas and New Years was a bit unusual, with a dark cloud looming over the family, and a big question in our mind – what is happening to Dani?
We now know that as long as action is taken quickly, her chances for a full recovery are very high. Precaution does entail 6 months of chemo and radiation to ensure all traces are eliminated.
The last 12 months have been memorable for Daniella, and challenging to say the least.
On the 16 October 2016, Daniella Schulze was married to Anthony Takchi, her best friend’s brother, and love for many years. She had practically grown up with this extended family, and it didn’t take long for the rest of us to absorb each other into our lives and consider ourselves all loved ones.
It wasn’t all a bed of roses for the two. Their original wedding date was to be 22.04.2016, with a destination wedding set for Boracay, Philippines and almost all guests confirmed to attend. However, early in the year Anthony faced some fears, hearts were broken, and the wedding was called off.
Not long passed and the two were working things through together as a couple and Anthony was certain there was nothing that could stop him from being with Daniella any longer. Within only a few months a new wedding bloomed and their endless love confirmed before their church, family and community.
A test perhaps from God for the trials that would face Anthony in the year ahead… an affirmation without any doubt for the love they have for each other.
I believe it was their faith that bought them together, the love of God that keeps them together, and a greater good that they will uncover in this journey together.
They are fit, active, and professionally sound individuals who have all the possibilities befitting a successful future. More confidently than most other couples, we expected them to marry, build a home, and start a family with great ease. They are only in their mid/late 20’s after all!
Life has a funny way of making the easy look hard and the hard look easy…
Dani, a designer and Anthony, a carpenter/builder; are both sustainably employed with full time salaries. Having recently married, their first step was to secure their family home, and in doing so purchased land up in the Hunter valley where they could see themselves start a family.
From blushing bride, newly wed, and first home buyer – to cancer and dependency on a single income – all this within the months of Oct-Nov-Dec – a mere blink of an eye.
Daniella has been juggling work with surgery and tests these last 4 weeks, and now with chemo starting she will be unable to continue work for at least 6 months. Their financial commitments have recently increased, and cancer has also come with an excess of additional expenses. It is difficult to feel positive when so much is on the line, and struggling to meet these payments will drain signs of happiness and a feeling of control during these trying months ahead.
In saying all this, both Dani and Anthony must see the miracles of life each and every day, for I can’t imagine what else could keep them beaming so brightly.
In light of Daniella undergoing treatment for cancer, and the effects associated, I’ve chosen to chop my hair off to raise funds for their cause. I’ve had long hair for the majority of my life… I rarely ever get more than a trim, and during my high school years I was referred to as Pocahontas. It is currently more than half way down my back, and I am prepared to chop it to my ears to help raise as much funds as I can to cover Dani’s salary for the next 6 months and reduce the financial burdens weighing on Anthony.
If you would like to join me, why not strut a short cut or donate to help keep them smiling today. I plan to chop it all off on the 31st January and will release a video and photos of the event to all our supporters.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and prayers. Our families are overwhelmed with the blessings we've received from so many.
