Our blended family was given some tough news a few weeks ago, my stepson and DJ's son Daniel, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his femur. Although, there is a silver lining that it was caught early and has not spread, our sweet Daniel is in for a fight. We were told 10 months of chemotherapy and a very serious leg surgery to remove the tumor and hopefully save the leg. And of course months of physical therapy to follow. I know most of my friends only know Daniel through Facebook posts but for those who have not had the privilege to meet him I'd like to tell you a few things about him. Daniel is unabashedly sweet; he is kind, and thoughtful. He is the kind of kid that wears his heart on his sleeve. He is sensitive and caring. He is passionate about a few things... Finn Balor (WWE Wrestler) and the NY Giants - Odell Beckam Jr is his favorite player. The day we gave Daniel ODJ's jersey, I don't know if I've ever heard him scream louder... he jumped up and down, ran around the house, it was wonderful.
DJ and I decided to create this page because as much as we would like to think we can do everything on our own, we cannot. We want to give Daniel's mother, Cathy, and my stepdaughter (DJ's daughter) Jessica, as much support as possible both financially and being there physically; which means traveling back and forth from California to Florida. We, thankfully, have never had to experience a situation like this before and I am not sure what it entails but every dollar received will be used for Daniel.
There are no words to thank anyone who donates, no matter what the amount is because it means more to us emotionally; that we are not alone, that we are loved, and that we are surrounded by people who care about us. Thank you. Thank you from a place of love, humility, and kindness.
