Daniela’s Journey

 

My name is Linda Galloro and I am the proud younger sister to Daniela Ranieri (aka WONDER WOMAN to her kids & family), who is married to Marco Ranieri and has two beautiful children, Alessandro Ranieri (6) and Claudio Ranieri (4).

 

Two weeks ago our family received the most devastating news that Daniela was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), WHO Grade 4, an aggressive and fast growing form of brain cancer. 

 

Daniela has already undergone a craniotomy tumor resection on March 19 which resulted in the left-frontal tumor not being fully excised as resection could potentially cause hemiplegia & stroke. She did experience a seizure right before surgery however has been on anti-seizure medication to help prevent another episode. 

 

She spent two weeks at Toronto Rehab Institute to regain her speech and mobility back on the right side of her body. She is finally home after 21 days continuing her therapy before starting her chemo and radiation treatments. 

 

We are working with an incredible team of neurosurgeons, oncologists and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital who are providing her with care and treatments that will continue throughout the better part of 2021. Sadly leaving her husband Marco, and immediate family members unable to work full time. This type of cancer is aggressive and requires 24 hour care, especially at home. Her two boys are learning remotely for the remainder of the school year. 

 

We know many people are asking how to help support Daniela and our family. This is one of the ways I am raising awareness to her disease, supporting her and the family when needed and having somewhere available for all friends and family show their support and share her story. We sincerely cannot thank you all enough for your kindness, prayers and thoughtful gifts and words of inspiration as Daniela begins this journey through radiation and chemotherapy.

 

Daniela is the strongest, most generous and kindest sister, mother, wife, daughter, cousin and friend. She goes above and beyond for everyone she knows. We will continue to update all of you on Daniela’s progress and journey throughout these tough times.
