Daniela is in need of help...

This is Daniela, and her siblings Jacqueline (13 ) and Hugo (10).

In the past year, she has struggled, in school, her job, and becoming a parent to her siblings. Daniela's mom unexpectedly passed away last year, leaving her to care for her brother and sister. It was not an easy task taking on the role of a mother, especially with the pandemic and being unemployed for a couple of months. Although, she received financial help from the social security office, it became more difficult when her older sister was fraudulently collecting the money . When this happened , she had no other choice but to send her siblings to Mexico to be with their biological father so that she could try and get back on her feet. Then she was struck with yet another hurdle, her sister kicked her out of the home and she became homeless. She prayed every day and the guilt overwhelmed her knowing she had let her siblings down. All they wanted was to be back in Los Angeles with her. Daniela worked extremely hard and in October of 2021, she had saved enough money to find a place of her own to call home. The very first thing she did was bring her siblings back home so that they could attend school and have a better life.

As of today, Daniela is still the sole guardian of her young siblings. She works, goes to college and interns at LAPD. This is an everyday struggle for her, mentally, emotionally and financially. For those of us that know her, we can honestly say that regardless of all of her troubles, she is always in good spirits. She is always willing to help any of us and that is why we here at LAPD want to help her and her siblings.

Daniela is very grateful she found the strength and perseverance to make it through such trying times. She credits her late mom for teaching her these skills.
