Daniel's FTM Top Surgery Fund

Hi everyone!       My name is Daniel and I am a transgender man.  I am 19 years old and I am a second year college student. After a year long battle with my health insurance I am unfortunately unable to use my insurance to cover the cost of top surgery and will have to pay out-of-pocket. The cost of my top surgery comes out to $9800. To be safe the GoFundMe is set at $10k. The cost of top surgery is highly inaccessible to many people, myself included (especially as a first-gen, low-income student).  A bit about me:  I initially came out as transgender when I was 14 years old. I am very privileged and thankful to have a supportive father that allowed me to live as my authentic self without fear of homelessness or rejection. At 17, just before starting college, I was able to get on a health insurance that allowed me to have access to hormone therapy.  Since discovering my transgender identity at 14, I have been on a journey to live authentically and comfortably within my body.  Starting testosterone helped immensely with this,  but my chest still continues to cause my a lot dysphoria. On my worst days I feel like I can't leave my dorm room, disgusted by my own body. On those days, all I can do is bind my chest as I try to move on with my day. This dysphoria has also increased with being on testosterone. Having a deeper voice, muscles and facial hair while also having breasts has expanded the disconnect between me and my chest. This surgery would help relieve my dysphoria and help me feel at home in my body.  The amount raised will go towards the cost of surgery and any extra funds raised past the goal will be used to donate to other top surgery funds.
