Daniel's campaign for Dementia Society, Inc.

Tax deductible
Hello!

Many of you know my dad, Mike Bousquet. He may have been your coach as a little-leaguer, your advocate in a time of need, or simply someone you admired for his calm presence and thoughtful way of navigating the world. For me, he was my best friend, and my most zealous supporter. He is a person who cared deeply about his family and was always committed to doing good in the world. Sadly, the amount of time he could devote to pursuing his worthwhile endeavors as a healthy, able-bodied adult, was cut short.

Roughly 13 years ago, when he was still a relatively young man, he was first diagnosed with Cortical Basal Degeneration (CBD), a form of dementia that we knew very little about. The disease acted swiftly, and completely took away his independence, cognition, and basic abilities as a person.  A few years ago, he stopped living at home, and now requires full-time care. It changed our lives immeasurably. Knowing that my dad will never really get to know his grandkids is something that I have thought about a lot, because children were the thing he loved most in the world.

Stories like this are certainly not rare, and we all know someone who has been personally impacted by dementia in one form or another. I am hopeful that in some small way, this fundraiser might make the experience of someone who is living with dementia, or someone who is caring for someone with dementia, just a bit easier.

On Sunday September 12, 2021 I'll be participating in  a Powerlifting Competition in Whippany, NJ.  My dad is, and always was, a competitive dude (as is his son) and this seems like an appropriate way to honor his love of sport and competition, while also helping out a bit. He would have enjoyed watching people lift heavy weights for no other reason than the pleasure of lifting heavy weights.

My hope, by that day,  is to raise $5,000 for The Dementia Society Of America . Information on the organization can be found in the link.

Thanks to all of you for considering this. Even if you don't donate, know that simply taking the time to read this makes a difference to me and my loved ones.

With Gratitude,

Danny
