My name is Esmeralda Saldana, and on behalf of my sister Carmen Youpa and her daughters, I am coordinating this GoFundMe campaign. Carmen is my eldest sister and loving wife to Daniel Youpa.
THE BACKSTORY: On Friday morning, January 25th, Dan suffered a massive stroke to the left hemisphere of the brain. My sister Carmen found him later that evening upon her return from work. As you can imagine what happened to Dan was very unexpected and extremely devastating to his family and friends, especially his wife and two daughters Danielle and Tatiana.
On Saturday, January 26th Dan had emergency surgery to relieve swelling in his brain. Currently, Dan is in stable yet critical condition in a local Hospital in Carmel, CA. We ask that you continue to keep him and his family in your prayers as they try to stay strong and positive during this challenging time.
For those of you who know Dan well you know he is a really great guy who easily smiles. He’s a passionate surfer, dedicated father, loving husband, and a fun grandpa Dan. He takes great care of his family. Dan is the foundation of his family and home and is also the head of household financially for everyone.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: We anticipate a long journey ahead and we are raising funds to help my sister Carmen pay for household bills, expenses, and debt while Dan is in the hospital. In addition, my sister will take as much time off as she can afford from her elementary teaching job to be with Dan. Asking for help is never easy for anyone, especially in a public forum, but we are left with no choice at this point.
