UPDATE (2/14): Hello everyone, we've increased the amount needed by just over another $3,000.00 due to the final payment to his lawyer, court fees, and unforeseen ambulatory costs incurred on the day of October 6th.

A few days ago, Daniel received the bills from the ambulance ride he was forced to take because of the police actions on 10/6. The first bill is a total of $423.00, the second a total of $375.82 and the final total being $12.11. He also must pay his lawyer in full the day of the trial (2/18) including court fees, which together total over $2000.

Any amount that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Daniel, at this time, can contribute about $600.00 to this process in total but he needs help making up the difference.

Even if you've donated before, you can still help! Send this to as many people as you know. Any amount of money will help in this process as Daniel has been unemployed for several months at this point and unable to find consistent employment outside of family.

Descriptions of the days event:

Sunday October 6th, 2019, Daniel Valentin-Morales was wrongfully arrested while peacefully counter-protesting a pro-287(g) rally that had been organized by local conservative groups in the area in conjunction with the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), an ACLU designated hate group. Sheriff Chuck Jenkins was also in attendance at the rally.

Mr. Valentin-Morales has been charged with resisting arrest, two counts of disturbance of the peace, willful failure to obey a lawful order, and assault of an officer in the 2nd degree.

While these charges are stacked, wildly misleading, untrue, and in direct violation of his first amendment rights, the fact remains that Mr. Valentin-Morales is in need of financial assistance in order to pay for his representation the day of the trial in November and any court fees he may incur.

It is this financial assistance we are asking that you contribute towards. At this time material financial support is the best way for friends, acquaintances and colleagues to show solidarity and affirmation.

A local activist, community volunteer, artist-educator, and devout Christian, Mr. Valentin-Morales is dedicated to protecting his community and ensuring that he creates a space where ALL people regardless of their race, religion, nationality, sexuality, gender orientation, or class status, are treated with respect, compassion and understanding. #HateHasNoHomeHere

Mr. Valentin-Morales' decision to protest the 287(g) program, on the afternoon of the 6th, was made in defense of the immigrant communities that live in Frederick county at large, and as a direct response to the unnecessary racial violence perpetrated against communities of color at the hand of law enforcement around the country.

Please consider supporting Mr. Valentin-Morales today.

In Love and Solidarity. <3
