Help Us Give Steven the Farewell He Deserves
On 22 July 2025, our beloved Daniel Steven Anderson, known to all simply as Steven or Steve, passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism. He was just 57, only weeks away from his 58th birthday.
Many friends and family have reached out asking how they can help. We have set up this page so those who wish to contribute can help cover the funeral costs. Because Steven’s passing was so unexpected, and with his parents on a pension, there were no funds set aside for these types of expenses. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards giving him the respectful farewell he deserves.
Remembering Steven: A Gentle Soul Who Always Put Others First*
Steven was one of those rare souls who seemed to live for the sake of others. A caring older brother, a devoted son, a loving, kind, and caring uncle to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and a much-loved cousin, nephew, and loyal friend, he gave his time, energy, and heart without ever asking for anything in return. Even when unwell himself, he went above and beyond to make sure others were safe, cared for, and supported.
Over the years, he:
Helped his uncle, who has bone cancer, arrange all his hospital appointments, transport, and bills so he could live with comfort and dignity.
Found housing for a homeless family friend, working tirelessly until she had a safe place to live after enduring unsafe and unlivable conditions.
Ensured a family friend with dementia received proper assisted care, which helped put a stop to her being taken advantage of.
These are just a few examples of his boundless generosity. If someone was in trouble, Steven was there; resourceful, practical, and always ready with a smile.
Those who knew him will remember his humour and warmth. Colleagues called him “a joy to be around” and “a lovely man to work with.” One friend fondly recalls his trademark greeting: “Hello matey peeps.” Our oldest niece saw him as her “Superman.” He had a gift for making people feel valued, understood, and never alone.
Now, in this time of loss, we have the chance to return some of that kindness. By coming together to help lay Steven to rest, we can honour the way he lived with generosity, compassion, and love.
If you are able to contribute, no matter the amount, your kindness will help us give Steven the farewell he deserves. If you cannot give, please consider sharing this page or simply keeping Steven in your thoughts.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us remember and celebrate a truly great man.
