Daniel Smithwick’s Liver Transplant

Hi my name is Ashley Smithwick I created this Go Fund Me with the heartfelt plea to ask for support in helping my father get the care he needs and preparation for a Liver transplant.

We have tried to keep my father’s illness amongst family since it unexpectedly arose in March. My dad had two falls 30 minutes apart and we knew something was wrong. Sixteen hospital visits later, many nights on the hospital floors, waiting rooms and many trips to San Antonio. We have been told my dad needs a liver transplant. We already have a full schedule this year with the doctor’s appointments in San Antonio for him and medications that are ridiculously expensive. My family has faced many struggles this past year and with God by our side we have made it with many adjustments to make sure everything he needs he gets, and we are hoping this financial support can help ease some of the anxiety associated with this new world we are navigating especially for mom. My dad is a strong man, and even this situation is a tough one. I’m forever thankful for my family and friends who have continued to check on my dad and mom. May God bless you.

All funds raised will be used to help my dad with the costs associated with his medical care including:

* Medical bills beyond insurance- medications that are not covered.

* Lodging because his Liver specialists and his transplant hospital (UTHealth) are in San Antonio.

* Hotel stays.

* Additional support for my dad as we need help caring for him while we work.

* Other unexpected costs for him that are needed to care for him medically.
