Daniel Pendergrass Poet-in-Residence Fund 2023

Tax deductible
Daniel Pendergrass had just published his first book of poems when he passed away of a heart attack in 2007 at age 43. A dedicated poet, well-respected instructor of ESL, and a friend to many, his poems live on as evidence of his well-traveled and contemplative life.

The Peanut Factory, Inc. is an artist residency and community arts center in Edenton, North Carolina. Located in a 1932 peanut processing mill, the 501(c)3 has hosted visual artists and one writer since 2013. For the first time, we would like to host a poet, as the inaugural Daniel Pendergrass Poet-in-Residence, funded through this campaign, in his memory. We hope to offer this Poet Residency every other year.

Diane Thiel has been selected as the first recipient. She has just published her twelfth book of poetry, Questions From Outer Space, and she will perform a poetry reading in Edenton during her residency in June.

Our goal is to raise $500 after the necessary deductions, which will be used for transportation and other costs during Diane's residency. Any funds that exceed this goal will go directly to ongoing rehabilitation costs of The Peanut Factory.

Thank you, and we look forward to your helping to celebrate the memory of one poet, while supporting another.
