Daniel Oquendo - Little Elm Hit and Run

Daniel Oquendo, a 22 year old resident of Little Elm, was driving on FM 423 around 8:50pm, on September 15, 2023 when a dark blue colored sedan crashed into him, flipping his car into a guard rail. The driver of that vehicle drove off, leaving Daniel's arm crushed underneath his red car. Since then, Daniel has been in the hospital, undergoing 7 surgeries and 10 blood transfusions in 13 days to save his arm and his life. Ultimately, the family and the surgeons had to make the difficult decision of amputating his arm in order to preserve as much of it as they could for future prosthetic use. Daniel continues to be in the ICU and doctors are hopeful he can move to the recovery room soon. During this time, the Oquendo family has stayed in unity, praying and trusting in God for the best outcome for Daniel.

Prior to the accident, Daniel's strong passion for personal training served as the driving force behind his pursuit of a degree in Kinesiology. Daniel is also a black belt at Dojo and was looking forward to start training younger groups. In addition, he had a special place in his heart for baseball.

Daniel resides with his parents to save for his own place one day. Daniel's mom and dad have not been able to work since his accident as they have been by his side, in the hospital,

daily. Mom, Annick Oquendo, works hard running a cleaning service and a cake business out of her home. Dad, Cesar Oquendo, is an independent contractor with a meal delivery service. While Daniel remains in the hospital, with his parents as his primary caretakers, the family humbly asks for your support to cover the growing medical bills and the income they are unable to earn due to their inability to work.
