Daniel MacDonald Memorial College Fund
Daniel MacDonald was a dedicated 29 year veteran of the Philadelphia Police department to which he rose to the rank of Chief Inspector. Dan was also a 33 year veteran of the Army National Guard, rising to the rank of Major. The amount of livesimpacted over the course of his dual career is immeasurable. Despite his responsibilities as a public servant and soldier, Dan’s number one job of being an incredible partner to Ali and a phenomenal and loving father to Maggie was where he excelled and what he loved most.
Dan met Ali in October 2010 while attending the Army’s Basic Officer Leader’s Course for Army Intelligence Officers at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. They were inseparable ever since and became know as “danielson” (minus the fact that they lived across the country from one another). They navigated their relationship early on with long distance and deployments. They made each other a priority despite the challenges and finally were able to move in together in 2016 where they made a beautiful home in Philadelphia. They were engaged to be married in 2017 and in 2019, the happy couple was blessed with baby Maggie.
To anyone that has ever met Dan, you’d know how much he loved his girls. He would tell me with each visit that there was no one better than Alison and how much he loved her. He wanted more kids with her and would jokingly say “how many more breeding years do you think Alison has left in her?” Ali would laugh and tell him “only one more, babe.”
In February, Ali and Dan were blessed to find out that they would be expecting their second child, later this year in October. They were both so incredibly happy.
In March, Dan, Ali, and Maggie finally made it back to Arizona to settle down in their forever home. Arizona is where they met and where they both felt happiest. This was where they would raise their kidsand continue to live their happy lives.
The unexpected passing of Dan has been devastating to everyone who has ever met him. He was always there to protect and serve his country, community, and loved ones. We know that he is serving a higher community now.
We are asking for donations that will go directly into a college fund for Maggie and his unborn child. It is a priority for Dan’s young children to know who their father was. We want the children to always be reminded of the strong, loving, selfless, smart, beautiful and heroic man that gave them life. Please donate what you can so we can honor Dan and his wishes for his children to go to college. This would be a beautiful gift to Maggie and the baby in the name of their father. Thank you for all your kindness and please keep Dan’s family and friends in your prayers.
