So on April 24th, 2022 I Started my f150 I’d just purchased a few week ago without putting it in neutral. It doesn’t have an ignition so I have to start it from the starter solenoid after I turn the on/offf switch under the dash. Manual trucks are supposed to only start in neutral but on this morning it started in first and then drove and pinned me against the stump grinder, my body pushed the grinder on its side. I attempted to get out of the way but my right foot didn’t make it in time and the truck drove ontop of my foot which was pinned ontop of the stump grinders rubber tracks then it stalled out finally when both front tires were off the ground with all the weight pinned on my foot with the grinder under it. A good friend got the truck off me after about 3-4 minutes of extreme pain and the movement of the truck destroyed my skin and tissue on the outside of my right foot
It could have been a lot worse but I managed to only rip two tendons in 2 places and broke my heel. While destroying a bunch of tissue and flesh which was not able to be saved. I am asking for help because I currently live in a camper that I’m remodeling and it has been completely stripped to just aluminum. While I’m the hospital the wind in Colorado has destroyed the little work I’ve gotten done.
once I get out of the hospital I need a nice place to stay that is clean with a bathroom working kitchen running water. As of right now I do not have that. It is crucial to my recovery as I do not want to lose my foot. I’m usually one put my boots on and get to work when times get tough unfortunately this time I can’t even stand on both feet. It is hard enough for me to ask for help but I have no other option.
If there is anyone in Colorado who could help me get the framing done in this 1964 Winnebago pull behind, it would be greatly appreciated. I have all the materials needed to completely the camper from siding on the inside, to installation, electrical, refrigerator, microwave, oven. I’m just in need to test the water heater, have the original Coleman heater gone over completely by a hvac person, get a new water tank, water pump, and ac unit. I have the bathroom materials, shower walls, floor, faucets toilet, and all the main plumping but just need a hand in getting everything installed properly so I can recover in a clean environment and not have my foot get infected then have the possibility to lose my foot completely. So with everything I am going through and the recovery process I don’t see me being able to do it all myself. If I could get some help on the camper, I wouldn’t need the money at all; your donations will go towards where I can stay as I recover and wait for my final surgery at the end of may. Thankfully I won’t be in the hospital on my 33rd which is may 23rd, but I would like to have a roof over my head without the worry of any infection in the foot. Any help could create a miracle because that’s my only hope as of now, for a miracle to happen. I’m going to be released from the hospital this coming Monday, but I’m scared about where I’ll be able to stay where I’m guaranteed to keep my injury clean and also elevated so the artificial skin that was implanted takes onto my body.
thank you for reading my story, I’m going to give it my all in this recovery in hopes I do not loose this foot. As an arborist, having both feet are extremely important.
Daniel Young.
