This is my family.

Yesterday everything changed when a near-fatal accident occurred. My little brother Daniel, who suffers from severe Autism, had one of his bad days, and in the midst of an outburst, he crashed through a pane-glass window in the living room, where he was almost seriously injured.

In March of 2017 my Dad, Fernando Galeano, resigned from work to come home and help my Mom Kathy take care Daniel. Daniel is twenty one years old, and stronger than before. My parents did everything they could to find him the best treatment and therapy while growing up, and while they saw some improvement, they exhausted their money in the process and have been in deep financial debt for years. Despite facing very difficult times, my parents never once thought of leaving Daniel in an institution, where there are often stories about children who are abused or mistreated. Daniel still has his bad days, where he becomes aggressive and lashes out at my Mom, which was why my Dad came home to help with Daniel full-time - trusting in God that the finances would work out.

My Dad hoped that he could keep paying the bills by gathering unemployment, however his unemployment checks ran out sooner than expected - last month. So he has faced a dilemma of selling the house or returning back to work, having to leave my Mom and I with Daniel again. He was preparing to go back to work up until yesterday, when a near-fatal accident occurred.

I got a call from my Mom, she was in tears and I told me about what had happened with Daniel during his outburst, where he fell through the front window of our home, shattering the glass over himself. Luckily, he was not injured more than a few minor cuts. However, the incident scared my parents and especially my father, to his core. When I spoke to my Dad yesterday, he was shaken and in absolute denial that he could return to work and leave my Mom with Daniel's current unstable condition. He told me that it looked like he would have to sell the house…

...The house that he and my Mom had raised Daniel and I in. The house that Daniel has become so accustomed to and comfortable in over the years, so that they could then have enough to rent an apartment… Only enough rent for about a year. I know that a change of pace, a new environment, a small apartment with unsympathetic neighbors who would not tolerate the loud screams my brother repeats when he is having an outburst - I know it would only disrupt the progress my parent’s have made with Daniel. Not only that, but the money would run out quickly. And then what?

When hearing my Dad speak about selling the house, I knew something had to be done. I promised my Dad I would figure out a way for him to keep the house. I promised him there was good people out there who would be willing to help out in whatever way they could, so that him and my Mom could continue caring for my brother and be financially cared for.

I need your help in fulfilling that promise. I am asking for a financial gift on behalf of my family, what ever is in your heart that you would be willing to give to support them.  Or if you could please share our story, if you could reach out to anyone you know who would be willing to donate - any help at all would be the raft to keep my family afloat in this time of need. I believe that if we can get together the money to help us through these next six months or so, that everything will work out. Because I have another plan...

While at the moment I am unable to provide financially for my both my parents finances as well as my own, I am in the process of establishing my own Digital Marketing business “Galeano Digital,” with the goal of helping other business owners market their businesses online. I chose this because it requires virtually no start-up cost. I plan on partnering with my Dad and teaching him the business, which will allow my Dad to work from home and allow us both to make enough to provide for the family together.. Right now I am laying the groundwork, getting the clients on board with trial runs and setting up accounts, licenses, tax registration, which takes time. So when I got the call on Monday hearing about what had happened, I was not sure what to do next. I am so close to making this business a reality, and I know I will, so that my family will be provided for years to come. But… I just need a little more time to make it happen. I believe that if my family’s rent and basic living expenses could be covered for the next six months, it will give us a safety net of time and reassurance and allow me to get my business to turn a profit and help my family provide for themselves moving forward.

Please, if you have anything to give, or anyone you can share this with who you think may be willing to help my family in this difficult time, it would be forever appreciated.
