Our dear friend Daniel Sharkey Esrick -- a caring son; a loving brother; a fun uncle, nephew, and cousin -- died on November 25, 2024. Dan, who deeply valued his family and his friends, enjoyed many strong communities from different aspects of his life. Jackson Street Elementary School (JSS), where he met some of his lifelong friends, was a special place for him. He loved JSS, not only when he attended, but enjoyed having fun in the school fields and on the playground with his friends and family for years after graduating.

JSS nurtures children, regardless of their resources, their challenges, and their differences. Dan placed great importance on fairness and justice -- qualities that led him to become a lawyer -- and JSS helped foster those morals within Dan.

To remember Dan, we are raising funds for JSS that will be donated in order to give students a new gaga pit as well as to plant two trees that will be a hammock’s distance apart. All donations that exceed the estimated cost of the trees and gaga pit will go to JSS to assist with projects to bring students additional resources, joy, and knowledge as JSS deems appropriate.
