Dan the Man Hernandez was an amazing son, a beloved friend, and a real life adventurer. His life was a beautiful collection of very good times that were had by all those around him. He was as true a friend as anyone could ever have wished for. 

Dan died in December of 2006. He was gone so suddenly, and most that loved him never got the chance to give him one more hug. Never got to say one more thing. Never got to say goodbye. 

When we think of the life that was lost, we cry, because we miss him, but we find strength in a web of good friends that also loved him. But we'd rather not cry, so instead of mourning our loss, we celebrate the great friend we had. We celebrate the man that our friend Dan was. 

Every year since his parting, Dan's parents have hosted this celebration of life, calling it Danfest. Dan's best friends and family come together for a day of music and stories, drinks and bar-b-que, laughs and cries. We celebrate the way we know Dan would like us to. David and Susan Hernandez (Dan's parents) have poured their hearts and souls and financial well being into this celebration for years. This year is different. This year, we're giving the celebration to them. 

As a thank you to them for creating their son. As a thank you to them for holding us close and sharing their lives with us. We will come together as Dan's best friends, as Dan's family, as people who want to give back to David and Susan. We want to give them a day of rest to enjoy the celebration instead of hosting it. 
Lets come together and make this thing happen. 

We will Danfest this year as a community of those who love Dan. We will make it happen by doing what each of us is able to do. Physically, financially, spiritually.
