Dane’s Cardiac Arrest Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jade Berteau. On July 4th a day supposed to be filled with family celebration and happiness turned into a super scary situation. I recieved a call that my father had fell out. I rushed over to where he was to find him purple and blue. Paramedics working trying to revive him. I can still hear the EMT saying “clear” as they shocked his heart over and over in my head. They got him into the ambulance and we werent sure if he was dead or alive. After going into cardiac arrest and having to shock his heart 6 times being without oxygen for 33 minutes the finally were successful in reviving him. But the fight didnt stop there. Once he got to St Charles Hospital they decided to transfer him to Ochsner Kenner. We were terrified as you could imagine, scared of the unknown. Tuesday July 5th we got a call from the doctors saying to gather everyone to come say their goodbyes as they did not think my father would make it through the night. So we did. We gathered around him in prayer after prayer after prayer. The next day his levels oxygen and everything started to rise. A true miracle but he still was not awake and we still had this battle to fight with his heart. Doctors said we would not know about any brain damage until he woke up but they did know what the next steps were for his heart. Thursday July 7th he was awake and off of the vent. They were continuing to make sure he was stable enough to do everything they needed to with his heart. Monday July 11th he was stable enough and they performed an anagram. They put a stint to repair 2 blocked valves. The next day July 12th they put in a pace maker/defibrillator. His CT scan shows nothing of major concern as far as brain damage but he does currently have short term memory loss. We are hoping and praying this will fix itself in the name of Jesus our savior. With all of this being said, my father is currently out of work and will be for the next 3-4 months. We filed for short term disability through the state but we all know how that goes or how long this could take. My dad is never one to ever ask for hand outs or favors but is always to first person to help anyone in need. In fact, he may actually kill me just for making this. This man is my world, my hero, and my best friend therefore I will do anything in my power to help him. With everything in the world going up right now the cost of living is so high and with his heart and situation the last thing he needs is to stress about money and bills. I know times are hard for everyone right now. If you feel it in your heart to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. If you cant do so we understand that as well and just ask for continued prayers for healing. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
