Hi everyone,
We are raising money for Dane Avina’s medical costs due to his recent diagnosis of ALCL (Non Hodgkins Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma).
We will be raising $25,000 for his medical costs that include tests, chemotherapy, and any other medical bills related to Danes cancer treatment.
Dane is 14 years old and plays baseball, football, and wrestling.
Help of any kind is greatly appreciated. Danes family is forever grateful for any help received.
Danes Full Story below:
At the beginning of February Dane started complaining about lower back pain. We assumed it was just sore muscles. When it didn’t get better we took him to the Instacare. They thought it was just inflammation and gave him prednisone. He then developed stomach pain so we took him back to doctor and they gave him Prilosec. Nothing really helped and his pain moved to his knees and ankles. We tried taking him to a chiropractor and a physical therapist. He would feel a little better after the visits, but the pain would always come back. During that time Dane started to notice these little ball-like bumps under his skin on his arms. We took him back to the doctor and they did bloodwork and an ultrasound of his bumps. The blood work showed that he had a lot of inflammation in his body and the ultrasound just raised more questions. So our doctor called and told us to go to Primary Childrens ER so that we could get answers faster. We checked into the ER on March 31st and they started running a lot of tests on Dane. Dane had an ECG, an echo, a chest x-ray, a CT of his lungs, and a CT of his stomach. They found that Dane had the same little ball-like bumps in his lungs, but they still had no definite answers so they admitted us into the hospital. On Friday April 1st they decided to do a biopsy of one of the bumps in his lungs. In the meantime, we were meeting with the Rheumatology department, the Infectious Disease department, Oncology, and the Primary Team of doctors and they were running every test possible to try to figure out what was wrong with Dane. On Tuesday April 12th we met with the Oncologist at Primary Childrens and Dane was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma or ALCL. That same day they did a bone marrow extraction, spinal tap, and placed his port. The following day they did a PET scan to see where all the cancer is in Dane’s body. Now today on April 15th we are at the hospital and Dane just received his first dose of chemo.
