Dandi's Gender Affirming Surgery & Grad School!

Who is Dandi?

Dandi (they/he) is a 31 year old white, superfat, non-binary Transgender individual who was born & raised in the SF bay area. They are a childhood trauma surivor, Radical Faerie, Neurodivergent Healer type who is seeking community support for the next big chapters in their life. Their ability to hold grounding supportive space for people they love is uniquely powerful and their laughter is big, infectious, and cleansing to the soul!

Dandi strives to make the world a better place each day through conscious interaction with others, spiritual writing, and spreading their story vulnerably so others don't feel alone in their struggles. They have been dedicated deeply to personal healing work for many years, giving them a relevant and deep understanding of queer healing. They have a radically open mind, a generous heart, and an exuberant yet gentle personality despite and because of all they have been through.

Preparing for the near future...

On June 22nd, 2023 they will have gender affirming surgery in the bay area.

Due to this surgery they will need to be off work for at least two weeks and possibly another two weeks, unpaid. They do not have sick or vacation time to cover this time off. Funds will help them to pay surgery co-pay costs, transportation, food and bills while off work.

In August 2023, shortly after gender affirming surgery, they will be moving to Portland to pursue a Master’s of Social work. They need community support to fundraise for the moving costs, including getting set up in Portland where they will be attending Grad School. They dream of becoming a therapist for Queer & Transgender community in the coming years. Let's give back to Dandi and support their dream of supporting their community as a life path!

Their recent history...

Dandi previously worked at an Oncology clinic as an admin with UCSF for eight years and during the pandemic, which left them really burnt out. They took a leave from work to pursue Eating Disorder treatment. After treatment, they transitioned jobs to a part-time role supporting social workers. This role has been very informative and helpful in deciding to move forward with the MSW. But due to working part-time, and thus not being able to keep bills current, they do not have a savings or credit line to facilitate the move. They are currently unable to take student loans out beyond their 2023 tuition due to these credit issues.

Goal Funds Break down:

$2,000 for time off surgery/surgery related expenses

$1,200 for uhual/ travel costs from Oakland to Portland

$3,500 for housing related move costs, misc moving costs

$1,300 Misc needs
