Dan's Medical Expenses

On April 9th, my whole world changed...

I grew up in a small town called Pennsauken, NJ, in a working class family that taught me that the most important things in life are family and hard work. I was raised with the mind set that I was to work my hardest every day to support myself and to be a productive member of society.

The men in my family all did physical labor jobs for their entire lives; generation after generation. School was quite difficult for me, not having the help I needed for my learning disabilities. I was so tired of being misunderstood by teachers and being punished with detentions for not finishing my homework that I didn't understand, that I dropped out of school to work with my family. I just figured that physical labor was what I was going to do for my entire life, and I never questioned what other types of work I could do.

Two years ago, my family business went under, and I was unable to find permanent labor types of jobs. So I worked at temporary agencies, not making a living.
I started to notice some serious, unusual health problems. I was experiencing shortness of breath, strange pains and a heavy feeling on my chest. It took about a year and a half for doctors to diagnose me with squamous cell carcinoma and two blood clots; one in my neck and the other in my arm. I have a massive portion of my chest and throat area that have been overtaken by an inoperable, terminal, cancerous tumor.

I'm 38 years old and just completed my second round of chemotheraphy and will soon be starting radiation in order to prolong my life. I'm living with a "picc-line" in my arm, going through more tests and Dr's appointments than ever, but NOTHING will ever change my desire to keep functioning to fullest each day!

I have had to turn to the "Go Fund Me" program so that I can hopefully continue living in my single apartment, buy food, pay for car insurance, etc., because my finances have been depleted.

I'm trying my very best to stay positive for myself and my family that I love so much!

I returned to high school two years ago; I never gave up!  Finally, through really hard work and determination, I was able to complete my high school studies. I will be participating in graduation ceremonies on June 15, 2015, in cap and gown to receive my high school diploma.

There are so many other goals that I know I can achieve in my life and I want to make sure that I do every single one!

I so greatly appreciate any and all donations that I receive.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
