Dance Sisters Scholarship Fund
Donation protected
Dance Sisters was founded on the belief that all young dancers should be able to follow their passion for dance. In 2019, Julie Wu, a pre-professional ballet dancer and a high school sophomore in Alexandria, Virginia, wanted to find a way for young dancers who needed leotards and tights, to get them. Dance Sisters was born and in its first year, Dance Sisters collected over 100 leotards, skirts, and ballet tights which were distributed across local dance programs in Alexandria. In 2020, during the COVID pause, Dance Sisters began providing virtual dance lessons through the Alexandria Boys & Girls Club.
Dance Sisters founder, Julie Wu, began her dance career at age 5, at Terry’s School of Dance and Gymnastics in Alexandria, Virginia. Julie later trained at the Washington School of Ballet, the Seber Method Academy - founded by a principal ballerina and teacher from Washington School of Ballet – and Just Dance in Alexandria, Virginia, where she learned jazz dancing. Julie is a graduate of the Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive Program and most recently performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
For the first time, Dance Sisters is reaching out to the community to help raise money for its first Dance Sisters Scholarship Fund.
Our goal is to raise $1500. This money will be given to two dancers based on artistic merit and need, living in the Alexandria, Virginia community.
Please consider donating $10, $15, $25 or more to help us!
We would be grateful for any donation but If you are unable to donate to our scholarship fund, please enthusiastically promote this fundraiser to your friends and family.
