Dance Conference for Mareme Faye’s Legacy

Donation protected
My mother, Mareme Faye, was an instructor, a wife, and a pillar of the West African dance community. Hailing from Senegal, West Africa, Mareme Faye was a well of information. She traveled all over the world sharing her knowledge and artistry with anyone who wanted to learn. Anyone who had the opportunity to share space with her not only learned the tradition and culture of the dances and rhythms, but they received her love. Wherever Mareme traveled, I was by her side, sharing in her knowledge, passion, and love. Because of that seed she planted in me, willingly and unwillingly (lol), I became the artist that I am today. Coming from a mother like mine, it’s to be expected. My mom made her transition in January of 2020. This year makes 5 years since she’s been gone, and it’s fitting that we celebrate her life in a grand fashion.

In June of 2026, I would like to put together the 1st Annual Mareme Faye Conference, celebrating the life and legacy of my mother. As you know, putting on a conference of this capacity can be quite difficult to sustain. I’m asking for your assistance to help me bring this vision to life. All proceeds will go towards securing the venue, the guest instructors and artists, travel arrangements, and licensing and permits for the event.
