Dana's Fundraiser

From the beginning, Amy, Ann, and I knew Dana Valenti was a force to be reckoned with. In grade school, her slumber parties were notorious. We would arm ourselves with legions of toilet paper, hop in the back of her mom's car, and creep through the night in search of unsuspecting classmates’ houses. We'd then go back to her house, tuck our Cabbage Patch Kids into bed, and try to keep ourselves awake long into the night.

Throughout the years her antics continued in the classroom, resulting in a substantial amount of “pink slips.” By the eighth grade, her reputation was solidified as a hell-raiser after being caught by Father Greycheck as she was mooning passing cars from the rooftop of St. Anne’s. It was during those years that lifetime friendships were forged and we became family.

As you may or may not know, Dana was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer in October of 2018. In November she had a mastectomy to remove her left breast and suffered severe surgical complications.  In December, she was able to start her first of 6 rounds of Chemotherapy. However, 2019 is proving to be a bitch of a battle. Dana is halfway through her Chemo treatment, after which she will be looking at another eight months of HER2 treatment.

This lengthy treatment has left her unable to work. We are reaching out to friends, family, friends-of-friends, and anyone who has been touched by someone with breast cancer and the horrific toll it takes on a person and their family. Dana’s lust for life is evident through her self-deprecating humor and perseverance. But even this warrior needs a calming place to heal. We ask that you show support and presence in Dana’s life through donations to aid in her medical bills and household expenses in the coming year. A little from a lot of people can go a long way. Please, pass this on through your social media and encourage others to give.
