Sam and Dana Wooten

Many of you know Sam and Dana Wooten. For those of you who don't or are unaware of recent unexpected news they received a few weeks ago, I'd like to share a little piece of their life with you.
Dana and Sam both sacrificed and served our country in the United States Army for a combined total of over 17 years. During that time, They raised three respectful, responsible, hardworking children, Scott, Spencer, and Heather. It's no surprise that all 3 carried on the sacrifice and dedication their parents once had by the continued service in the United States Navy, which Scott continues to serve.
The Wooten family are God loving, special, humble, kind, and strong. One of the strongest I've ever met actually. I can't say that I know many who wouldn't crumble with the tragedies that they've somehow overcome throughout the years.
In 2011, Sam was working for the phone company and Dana was a Respiratory Therapist at French Hospital in San Luis Obispo, California. Dana received a call June 17 that Sam had been involved in a single car rollover which had caught fire. Not only did Sam suffer trauma from the crash but he also had third degree burns over 38% of his body. He was admitted into the Fresno Burn Center for 68 days, which Dana never left his side.
For 7 years, Dana has been the sole caregiver for her disabled husband and continued to work full time by changing her work schedule to weekends in order to keep her position and not cause hardship on the family or for the hospital. The other time has been spent transporting to/from appointments, therapies, providing care after multiple surgeries, daily household duties, etc. She is wholeheartedly the most committed patient advocate, spouse, and mother that I've ever met. The time, energy, and love that she has put into everything that she does is absolutely amazing and beautiful. She has always been about her family, grandkids, longing to retiring with her Sam, moving to their property, while traveling around and enjoying life.
I all understand that this is a trying time for all of us in some shape or form . However, I have been asked by several people how they can help. Monetary donations, prayers, meals, cards, even sharing this link to all you know is appreciated. When you are fighting for your life ...everything counts, If you are interested in providing a meal, please click on this link.https://mealtrain.com/y3ez8y
This page will continue to be updated throughout Dana's journey so that we may continue to reach out and give her support along the way. She is heroic and my sincerest hope for her is that she will be able to experience a healthy and happy future...just as her and Sam have always planned.

Heartbreakingly, 3 weeks ago Dana was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to her liver and possibly the mesentery. Two days ago her port was placed and she will be starting chemo next week. We are unsure of the future at this point but will faithfully remain positive.
It's a known fact that with cancer patients, the financial burden on the Wooten family will be extreme. Dana will need several therapies, doctor visits, hospital stays, travel expenses, maintenance medications , etc. that insurance won't cover.
