Fractured Bones, Scammed by a “Church” and sinking

Hi, my name is Dana. On October 27, 2022 around 1:30pm I was on my way home from work riding my Ecotric Fat Tire Beach and Snow electric bike as usual. As I coasted down the hill on VT route 5 in Brattleboro I was about to pass the intersection of John Steitz Dr. when a car failed to yield making the left hand turn. I had no time to stop and hit the front right side of the car, causing me to go airborne over the hood landing in the road. A driver waiting to pull out of the drive came rushing to my aid and kept me from moving. I kept trying to move my left leg next to my right leg but I could not move it at all. Rescue arrived quickly and checked me over to see if it was safe to get me on a board to transport. I was moved from board to bed to X-ray table and back to the board many times and the pain was unlike anything I have ever experienced, When at the local hospital the CT scan showed that my patella was fractured in two places and my hip was shattered. They did not have staff to perform the surgery so I was sent to Hartford, CT where I underwent 3 surgeries. The first was a few hours after I arrived on my patella and the second was also the patella. I was told they had to put in quite a bit of hardware in so they could perform the hip replacement. I had the hip replaced on November 2nd and the surgeon told me that in order to repair my hip he had to lift my leg behind me so they could move my sciatic nerve to complete the surgery. They had concerns that lifting my leg backwards could pull the hardware out of my knee and cause further damage. Fortunately the surgery went well and I was able to go home the next day. I was able to file for short term disability that pays 60% of my pay that I am truly grateful for. I had contacted a lawyer to file a suit to get what should be a large settlement from the drivers insurance company. I was later told by my attorneys that the driver was underinsured, which is the bare minimum. The settlement I get will be 1/5th of what the hospital billed for the hip surgery. With the rising prices of groceries as well as heating oil and electric I am struggling to afford these necessities. I am 45 years old and having a hip replaced could possibly hinder the things that I enjoyed to do every day. I will have to go through physical therapy once there is enough bone growth and once the brace is removed from my leg. I am more susceptible to have arthritis earlier in my life because of the amount of damage. I want to thank all that have helped me out through this difficult time and also a thank you to those who help me in the future! I am so grateful and I appreciate everything anyone can do. And mostly I am grateful to be alive.
