I am starting this go fund me as several people have asked how they can help,  as Dan is going to have a very very long road to recovery.  Ann,  Brian and Jenna will have many unexpected expenses traveling to Iowa City.  I also would like to use this as a tool to keep everyone up to date on how Danny is doing.

On Friday July 17th,  my brother Dan Welp had a very serious fall down some stairs at home.  He has been non-responsive since Ann found him, with severe head trauma.  He was taken to Dubuque area hospital by ambulance,  and then immediately sent to Iowa City via med-flight.  Danny has several skull fractures and at the time of injury had bleeding on the brain.  Saturday early he was in surgery approximately 4 hours while they removed part of his skull to relieve some of the pressure due to the swelling of his brain.  The surgeons were also able to stop the bleeds at this time.   With the Iowa City Hospital taking covid precautions,  only one person can visit Dan per day,  for just a few hours.  This daily trip will become expensive,  not to mention the increasing medical bills that the family will be incurring each day of Dan's recovery.  We generally are not a family to ask for help,  but with so many people reaching out asking how they can help,  I thought this would be the best avenue.  All proceeds will go directly to Ann, Brian and Jenna to use how they need during this time.
