Dear friends, I had a PET scan yesterday and the results revealed that I now have Stage 4 cancer that has metastasized to my lungs, liver and spleen. I have been feeling pretty terrible all of the time recently and this explains why. My liver has been very seriously impacted and this prevents my being able to enroll in any clinical trials/studies for chemo drugs, so the conventional medicine route has reached its end.
Michelle and I are now doing all we can to make it possible for me to go to an integrative and intensive cancer treatment center clinic (Brio Medical) in Arizona for several weeks of intensive treatments to try to save my life.
Arizona's integrative medicine laws allow for centers like Brio to use more IV therapies, medicines and drugs than anywhere else in the country, allowing for a very customizable approach tailored to each individual. They can even use the chemo drugs that were being recommended for me before my liver condition cause me to be ineligible for the studies being done here in Maryland. Brio offers whole-body hyperthermia, which is very promising for my condition but is not readily available except in Arizona. They work closely with the conventional centers in Scottsdale, such as the Mayo Clinic if any care outside of Brio is needed.
If accepted, I would be undergoing a very wide range of treatments 5 days a week for 8-12 weeks. This will be very costly and not covered by insurance, so we are facing quite a mountain. It is my last, best hope.
We are so grateful for your ongoing thoughts, prayers and support. Lots of love to all of you,
Dan
