As many of you know, Dan Reiff tested positive for covid-19 on November 11th. On November 27th, Dan was admitted to the hospital in Goshen and placed on oxygen. On December 3rd, Dan was placed on a ventilator. And just yesterday, December 9th, Dan was flown to Chicago to be placed on an ECMO machine. It has been an extremely tense month, with many ups and downs, but Dan continues to fight. Right before being placed on a ventilator, Dan resolutely exclaimed "let's do this!" We whole-heartedly believe Dan is still fighting with that exact same spirit and determination.
Friends and family have overwhelmingly asked to help in any way possible - and with as fluid as the situation is, that's a very difficult question to answer. We are trying to consolidate all financial contributions to one location with the best fee structure, and that appears to be GoFundMe - as we want as much of what people are willing to give to go directly to the family. What we do know is that this will not be a quick battle. Best case scenario, Dan is likely looking at a 2+ month stay at the hospital in Chicago. There will be multiple trips by the family back and forth to visit and be close by when they can. Hospital and medical bills are undoubtedly starting to pile up. All contributions will go directly to the Reiff family to help them navigate their path forward.
We all too often complain that 2020 has been a rough year - but most of us lack perspective when we do so. In just this calendar year:
**Dan waged war against Lymphoma
**AnnDee has quit her job to stay at home to help isolate from covid as best as possible.
**AnnDee's mom passed away in July, and Dan's dad passed away less than two weeks later.
**And now Dan is fighting for his life.
We don't understand why the Reiff's have been given such a ridiculously difficult path this year - but we do trust that God continues to be good, and loves Dan, AnnDee, Zach, and Steven tremendously. And we love them as well. Let's rally together and show the Reiff's some of that love!
