Dan Purdue is a non-league goalkeeper and scaffolder who will be out of work for up to 2-years as he focuses on recovery following a serious motorbike accident on the 18th February 2026.

This season Dan was playing for Broadfields United Football Club. Performing unbelievably throughout the season, training hard, staying focused and playing a significant role in the clubs title race. Dan's a great character, calm, composed, sociable, disciplined and level headed. He's an active lad and enjoys his time in the gym. I am sure his competitive mentality will help him with his recovery.

On the 18th February after leaving work, Dan was t-boned by a car on his motorbike. He sustained a broken femur, multiple open fractures on the fibula and tibia with 10cm bone loss from his tibia and ligament damage to his ankle and knee. He's had 4-surgeries so far to put a rod in his femur and a skin flap graft. One of which failed and put him in ICU for 2 days on ventilators, then another which worked.

He has an Illizarov frame on his leg and foot and has another surgery over the next month for bone transportation to try and grow his tibia back. The frame is a significant metal case that will remain in situ for a minimum of a year. Dan is a self-employed scaffolder and will be off work for around 2-years.

Dan is fortunate to be alive but the future carries unknowns. He will have to learn to walk again and there is a high probability he will never play football again. He will need physiotherapy ongoing for around two and a half years until his future functionality is fully understood.

Currently Dan is using a wheelchair when out and about (which he had to buy himself). With respects to fundraising all contributions will support Dan over the next two-three years.
