My name is Shane. I’m a friend of Daniel, and I cannot begin to tell anyone the fear I felt in my body when I heard from a mutual friend that he crashed, and it was a bad crash. I saw a picture of his bike laying in the road. My friend Dom and I started calling emergency rooms in the area until we found him. We rushed to RWJ, and unfortunately, they only let us in one at a time. I was the first to go in and see him in critical condition. I called his name, and he knew who it was just from my voice. He grabbed me and wouldn’t let go. “How’d you find me?” “I can’t believe you’re here. How’d you hear?” “I’m messed up pretty bad.” I just held him. I just couldn’t help him. Both of his legs were broken in numerous places. I didn’t know what to do or what he needed. I just wanted to be there for him. He was alone, no family nearby, and no close loved ones nearby.

I heard from one of the nurses that he was being moved soon. Our other friends Aidan, Dom, Solia, and Sabrina were in the waiting room in the ER. I cut my initial visit short to allow everyone else to see him so he knows he’s not going through this alone. We heard his story the next day after his surgery. Dan low-sided coming into a turn at one of his favorite places to ride at Round Valley boat ramp. He was airlifted out of Round Valley and to RWJ. Our riding group of friends, Solia, Aidan, John, Dom, Danielle, Boris, Damian, Shane, and Alex, are all pitching in and donating their time and efforts to retrieve his bike from the salvage yard, to give him the support he needs, and even his favorite foods and meals.

After a few days post-surgery, Dan is in great spirits for a recovery and is super excited to continue his passion back on the motorcycle. Please, anything donated and contributed will go straight to Daniel and his medical bills with two surgeries underway, a totaled bike, he’s unable to work, and he really needs the help and support!
