Help Us Celebrate the Life of Dan Kennedy

Hi friends and family,

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of my dad’s celebration of life, which will be held in the way he would have wanted—not as a traditional funeral, but as a joyful farewell filled with music, love, and community.

My dad lived a long, full life and passed away at the age of 76. He was an amazing father, but an even better grandfather to my children, who brought him endless joy. He was an Army veteran who served our country during the Vietnam War, a deeply religious man who was strong in his faith, and someone who was at peace knowing his time was nearing.

Music was at the heart of who he was. He began playing drums at just 8 years old, but the guitar became his lifelong passion. He played for over 55 years. In the last years that he was physically able to play—before he became paralyzed in his left arm and could no longer play—he devoted himself to creating a Christian album. This was his final musical project and meant so much to him. One of our hopes is to have copies made to share with friends and family as a keepsake, so everyone can remember him through the music he loved so deeply.

His celebration of life—“Dan’s Farewell Jam”—will be a gathering where friends, family, and fellow musicians can honor him through music, stories, and togetherness. Funds raised will help cover memorial expenses such as the venue, programs, sound equipment, catering for the event, and the production of his album to give as a memento to those who attend.

Any remaining funds will be placed into college funds for his grandchildren, something that reflects how much he loved and cared for his family and their futures.
