Hello everyone, my name is Marlene Leady and I have created this GoFundMe to help my sister, Suzanne, and brother-in-law, Dan, with unexpected expenses and medical bills due to Dan's sudden critical illness.
About 2 weeks ago, Dan became ill and went to a local emergency room. He ended up having fluid drained from his abdomen, multiple tests run, yet still no definitive answer (possible liver issues affecting the heart). He was sent home a few days later, only to get sicker and ended up back at the hospital again. More tests, more fluid drained, more doctors, still no solid plan of action. At that point, the only thing we knew was that something was going on with his liver but no explanation what caused it. There were theories about what happened and what to do, surgery was discussed and Dan was eventually transferred to another hospital to be evaluated for emergency surgery. Once transferred, it became clear that he was far more ill than we thought, and he was again transferred to yet another hospital for more extensive testing. Fast forward to today, and Dan's team of doctors have determined that surgery is no longer a viable option, now he will need a liver transplant. As you can imagine, this is very unsettling news to be told suddenly that you're too sick within a 2 week time period that now your only option is an organ transplant.
Suzanne and Dan need help. Dan will be out of work indefinitely at this point and he carries the family health insurance coverage. I am hoping to help them offset the cost of continuing his health insurance coverage, as well as any medical bills that arise, and perhaps some funds for Suzanne and their 2 daughters to use for gas and food while visiting Dan during his hospital stay. He's currently in the ICU and has been told it could be a lengthy stay due to the severity of this illness. The doctors have told Dan that he is sick enough to be pushed to the top of the transplant waiting list.
Suzanne has been taking time off work to be with Dan, and has been overwhelmed by this news. We would appreciate anything that you can offer to help them through this difficult time (prayers, well wishes, gift cards, donations, etc.). No donation is too smalI, and will be deeply appreciated. We will be in touch with updates as we get more information. At this time, Suzanne and the girls are okay with food and meals but should that change, I will let you know.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for taking time to read this, and please feel free to share.
