Dan Cordery and family
Donation protected
Dan Cordery is a good man who lives his life based on family values and selflessness. He would give the shirt off his back to help a mate. But right now, he needs help himself, and has not yet learned how to ask for it. Hence this request.
On 24 October 2023 Dan unexpectedly collapsed at work with seizures despite showing no prior symptoms of ill health. He went immediately to the emergency department of the local hospital. At first the medical team thought that it was caused from straining himself at work and sent him home, but the symptoms persisted and on the second day, after losing use of the left side of his body and after further tests, it was revealed that he had 2 brain tumors. He immediately underwent an
emergency craniotomy to remove the larger and more concerning tumor. Subsequent PET scans also revealed evidence of metastatic melanoma in his lungs, lymph nodes and stomach along with hisbrain diagnosis.
On 4 December 2023, whilst in recovery from the earlier operation, Dan developed a sever migraine which was determined to be caused by his second brain tumor haemorrhaging. He underwent an immediate second operation to remove the second tumor. The side effects were such that he lost speech and developed dysphagia. He underwent intense speech rehabilitation, during which time all cancer treatment was put on hold. Shortly afterwards he underwent urgent intense radiation treatment for 5 days, which he tolerated well.
Since Christmas and into the New Year, Dan’s treatment has turned to immunotherapy, of which he has had 2 rounds so far. Whilst somewhat encouraging at times, the severe side effects of this treatment have seen Dan in an out of the emergency ward and subsequent hospitalisation on a regular basis since starting the treatment, which is now on hold until side effects are dealt with and settled.
As you can see, Dan is going through the fight of his life. He is going through this with a positive outlook and fighting hard. He is unable to work due to the illness along with the sheer magnitude of medical appointments involved with it. His love of creating music in his two bands has had to be put on hold during this time. He has turned that time and attention to his young family, and they are working through this together.
Any financial assistance would be gratefully received and go a long way towards easing the burdens of the journey that Dan is now on.
