Dan Bayless

My friend and a friend to so many, Dan Bayless is not only a dedicated father of three amazing kids, Morgan, Ethan and Mason, a husband to one of the strongest women I know Erin, and a worker; he is also an honest, trustworthy, reliable friend and a pillar of the community.  Dan has been suffering from a disease known as Dystonia for 23 years. Dystonia is a condition that consists of involuntary muscle contractions that cause repetitive or twisting movements in the body.  It is a neurological condition that can affect one or more parts of the body and cause great pain and discomfort. As the years went on, the Dystonia progressed to the point where Dan was living with extreme pain and discomfort every day, yet he still got up for work to provide for his family and took on the responsibility of coaching multiple soccer teams over the years. Dan played a tremendous role in the reboot of the West Mifflin Soccer Club when his sons began to play over 15 years ago.  Dan was on his way to begin a new chapter in his life in March of 2020. He found a doctor that put Dan at the top of his list knowing the severity of his condition.   Brain surgery was scheduled and when COVID hit, his procedure was postponed.  The Bayless family felt defeated, yet they persevered and continued to volunteer time to help others in the community.  Dan pushed through the pain and suffering and waited patiently for the surgery to be rescheduled.   Dan finally had his surgeries on May 6 and May 13. It took him 3 weeks to recover, but he was like a new man.  He had little to no pain and he was able to walk without tremors.  He was starting over and feeling great.  Last week when Dan was at work, he injured his back with several herniated disks.  He will be out of work for several weeks while he is healing. Being an independent contractor, this is a hindrance to his family’s financial stability.
