Dan Barnhart’s Medical Relief Funds

In the past two weeks my Dad has had two trips to the ER by ambulance. Last week he lost muscular strength, had a significantly low potassium level. His diagnosis was concluded after having an X-ray, CT and blood work. He was sent home with potassium and was starting to feel a little more like normal.
Sunday night he had a ringing in his R ear, severe head pain, to the point that my Dad cried and anyone that knows my Dad knows he’s not a cryer. He had nausea, dizziness, limb weakness. I got another scary phone call from my Mom in the middle of the night. He again was rushed to the ER for testing. They did another CT with and without contrast, spinal tap, more blood work, heart ultrasound.
My Dad was admitted over night on Sunday night due to the severity of his symptoms and had an MRI Monday morning, he then was informed he had a stroke. He was transferred by ambulance to Providence in Everett due to the swelling in his brain, Skagit Valley Hospital doesn’t have a Neurosurgeon on-site and worse case scenario he would need surgery to alleviate pressure on his brain if needed. When he arrived he was admitted to the ICU, even though that news was scary it allowed my Mom the opportunity to visit him as she was previously denied seeing him due to covid-19, visitations are prohibited unless you’re in the ICU or end of life. We were informed that he had an Ischemic stroke in the cerebellum.
So far he has passed most of his mobility tests and memory tests. He has a TEE test scheduled tomorrow to take a better look at his heart. My Dads neurologist is trying to get to the root of what cause his stroke. They drew more blood today to check for a blood disorder since a stroke at 48 is not very common.
Anyone that knows my family knows we don’t ask for help. Ever. With this craziness and all the tests, the hospital stay, ER visits, imaging, ambulances rides, this is going to add up financially and right now we have no clue when my Dad will return to work but I know he wants to get back to normal ASAP.
This situation has shaken our world a little. We have no clue when my Dad can come home or how quickly he’ll recover. My mom is staying in a hotel so she’s 7 minutes away incase of an emergency. Anything will help alleviate the financial stress, even sharing and praying. I will try and update as we get more tests back.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We appreciate all your love and support.
