Dan Asselstine with medical expenses while he beats cancer
Donation protected
On May 6 2023, Dan's life quickly changed for the worse. He went to the hospital with what started as discolouring in his fingertips and quickly started getting worse. He was soon diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and beurgers disease, which caused gangrene in his fingers and foot. He suffered with a lot of pain for many months throughout his whole body unable to walk and get himself around, before he unfortunately had to have parts of his fingers amputated. Shortly after he ended up back in the hospital having to get his right leg just below the knee amputated. A month after his surgery Dan started to develop a large lump under his arm. He went to the hospital to have it looked at and an ultrasound showed a fluid pocket that the doctors thought would absorb. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Dan was then soon diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and has since been undergoing chemotherapy which has taken quite a toll on his body and spirits. Dan has been on what seems like a never ending fight for the last year and a half.
Since this started on May 6, 2023 Dan hasn't been able to work and help provide for his family. (His wife and 2 kids). Due to the severity of it all Dan's wife Dea also hasn't been able to work much, as she has had to stand by his side and help him due to Dan having to be in and out of the hospital for days to weeks at a time, the never ending apts and not being able to get himself around at home, due to his leg loss and having to be in a wheelchair. As well as not being able to work much, the cost of driving back and forth to the hospitals, parking fees, meals, etc have taken quite a toll on Dan and his wife financially. His fight isn't over yet and he still has many apts to come including trips up to Toronto for his PET scans and radiation.
Dan's immune system has been so bad that he hasn't been able to get out of his house much, other than to his appointments and the hospital as needed. He spends most of his days in bed, as he isn't able to get himself up and going or is in too much pain to get up.
For anyone that knows Dan. He is one of the kindest souls you'll ever meet. He would do anything for anyone and loves his family more than anything. I'm hoping we can all pull together and help raise some money to help with this awful financial burden this has caused his family. This money would help try to at least get them back on their feet while they continue to fight what seems like Dan's never ending fight and hopefully lighten his spirits. I can't imagine having to worry about financial issues on top of all Dan has gone through over the past year and a half. Any donation is appreciated. If you can't financially help, please share this.
