Many of you know of the emergency medical situation with Dan and Sonia's unborn baby. It seems logical to streamline helping them financially in a platform like GoFundMe, so with their agreement I'm setting it up for their benefit. The financial goal set for this emergency will likely be updated or increased as they determine more accurately what their expenses will be. Below is text from an email from Dan explaining the situation. May we help them physically with easing this financial stress and strengthen spiritually with our prayers to our gracious Father on their behalf and for this precious unborn soul.

From Dan: "As many of you know, Sonia is pregnant with our 3rd child that is due around the new year. But during a routine checkup at a hospital in Freetown on Tuesday the doctors discovered some signs of potential heart problems with the baby. We returned to the hospital on Wednesday for further monitoring. Unfortunately, even though we visited what is considered the most advanced hospital in the country, their medical facilities are extremely limited to be able to determine what exactly is the cause of some of these heart irregularities. With being unable to determine the specific nature of these symptoms, the doctors recommend that we travel to the US or they would schedule an urgent c-section without adequate facilities to give a premature baby a true fighting chance. We have elected to pursue the first option of returning to the US. Unfortunately, we do not have much time to get a second opinion since Sonia will soon become ineligible to fly internationally because of how far along she is in her pregnancy. Our flight to take us back to the US will depart SL next week Tuesday, November 28.

Our hope is that with better testing and medical analyses in the US Sonia will be allowed to carry the child full term but we will know more after our arrival. It is our full intention to return back to Sierra Leone in a few months after the delivery if there are no serious health issues with the baby.

We intend to relocate to Indiana where we will be close to family and brethren that we are very familiar with. But we have yet to acquire any specific leads as to where specifically we’ll be located, housing and vehicle options, and how this transition will impact our financial situation. We don’t know what we are going to do but we have chosen to trust God and His people to provide for our needs during this vulnerable time.

Sonia and I are both shell shocked and heartbroken at these very sudden complications. Sierra Leone is our home, and to be forced to leave so unexpectedly is extremely emotionally challenging for us. We have spent much of our holiday in tears as we are trying our best to process these events. Please pray for the health of our beloved child. But above all, please pray that God would establish our hearts in faith to overcome this surprising transition and whatever events follow. "
