Hello, we are Dan and Karla. We are a family from Mullumbimby on the Far North Coast of NSW. We are starting this fundraiser on behalf of ourselves and our five children.

We were effected by the floods on the Far North Coast of NSW where we were inundated with water right throughout our rental home. We were woken 5am Monday 28th February with water entering our house and were unprepared for what was to follow. The water came in and out three times and left us with mud throughout; damaging everything at floor level. Despite trying to push rising water out multiple times throughout the day, the real clean up began Tuesday morning.

We are currently living on a concrete slab and have no internal doors. We had to dispose of so many of our belongings and are one family of many who've been massively effected by this disaster. We've been well supported by our local community with the cleanup and we've worked our butts off to get the house into shape as best we can whilst we await the next step. The gyprock will be cut to remove and prevent future mould, drying of framework, replastering and painting. In the meantime, we are doing our best to prepare and provide a safe and healthy home for our family.

We had all 5 of our kids with us on the morning of the flood and they were all amazing under the circumstances, saving what they could. We lost a fridge, a massive lounge that seated all 7 of us, three laptops, a family car, appliances, heaps of furniture, clothes, linen, shoes and basically many of the things you need for a large family to function.
