Alzheimer's Society and Maggie's Cancer Care

Dan & Jay here to announce that on Saturday 25th May we will be taking on The National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and Maggie’s Cancer Care.

This challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales… all within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km), with an ascent distance of 3064 metres (10,052ft), and a total driving distance of 996 miles. We will be putting every penny raised towards the charities, splitting the total evenly down the middle.

The three mountains are:

We’ve been friends for as long as we can remember. We first hiked Yr Wyddfa together (with our friend Toby) in 2010, and Scafell Pike the following year, but this will be our first time on Ben Nevis. We first met in nursery around 30 years ago, we remained close friends throughout school (and into adulthood). This was made easy due to the fact our mums (Sharon and Sue) were also good friends.

My mum (Susan) suffered a TIA (stroke) back in 2010 has been struggling to fight off Dementia ever since. In recent years, she has sadly faced quite a severe deterioration both mentally and physically caused by Alzheimer’s Disease. She now resides in Nursing Care at Hillside Care Home.

My mum (Sharon) sadly passed away in December 2017 after losing her battle with cancer. The support she received from Maggie’s during her final years meant the world to her, and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for helping to ease her suffering. Maggie's provides vital assistance to cancer patients and their families, offering solace and strength in times of need.

Your donation will help to honour our mothers and ensure others receive the same compassionate care. For them, and anyone else who may suffer with either Cancer or Alzheimer’s, we ask for a donation of any size.

So… 24 hours, huh?... We’d better get training, I suppose!
