What is CANCER ? A slap in the face, a pause button, a time stealer, a devastating diagnosis. My niece Kirstie who is 33 years young with a husband, and 2 beautiful little girls, has CANCER. A rare and aggressive form of Liposarcoma (a fatty tumor) of the leg.

Thankfully and by the grace of God, she has the best team at Duke University in North Carolina treating her. She is scheduled to begin radiation treatments on November 13th. She will need to go 5 times per week for 5 weeks. Then they will re-evaluate the tumor for removal.

She will be driving 180 miles round trip for each treatment from her home in Advance, NC to Duke's Cancer Center near Raleigh, NC.

Their health insurance has a very high deductable. That cost along with the cost of gas, the wear and tear on her vehicle, and the cost for child-care during this time is daunting and unfathomable for a working family.
