Dear family and friends,
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Damon Nicholas Georgiou, 31, of Portsmouth, RI, who passed away on November 12th, 2023. Damon was born in Newport, RI, on November 3rd, 1992, to Dan Georgiou and Christine Martineau.
Damon was preceded in death by his parents, grandfather, and great-grandparents. He is survived by his YiaYia Paula (Diomandes) Georgiou, Aunt Jennifer Georgiou and her husband Jim Cerce, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Damon graduated from Portsmouth High School in 2010, CCRI in 2013 with an Associate of Arts Summa Cum Laude, and from URI in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Damon was passionate about physics and could always be found working with electronics.
Damon played soccer, baseball, and football for Portsmouth. His passion was soccer. He received a soccer scholarship to CCRI to play at the collegiate level, and while there, he received the scholar-athletic award. Damon also enjoyed fishing and playing Pokemon.
His passing is not just a personal loss but a profound loss to our entire community.
Memorial services have not been scheduled yet; they will be posted on this page once they are in place.

Many people in the community know Paula from her many years working at her family’s business, Tommy’s Diner. After being diagnosed with cancer and going through treatment which left her unable to work, losing her husband Nicholas Georgiou in 2020, her son Dan Geogiou in February 2023, and now her grandson Damon, Paula is faced with unimaginable medical, funeral, and everyday living costs.
This sudden and unexpected loss has brought on more emotional turmoil and financial strain as she had been grappling with the expenses associated with the first two tragedies. We hope this GoFundMe will help us reach a larger community than we could have without it, and we know that our community will come together to support Paula and her family in a time of need. No matter how small, every donation will significantly ease the burden on this grieving family. Let us come together as a community to offer our support, love, and financial assistance to a family that has lost not only one but three beloved family members.
If you cannot contribute financially, please share this page to help spread the word. Your thoughts, prayers and kind gestures are already valued.
Thank you for your source of comfort and support during this challenging time.
