Damien Emergency Hospital Expenses

Donation protected

What started as upper back pain quickly progressed into severe pain, fever, shaking and chest pains. I rushed him to the little local ER next to our house. His BP was 189/110 they quickly did a EKG, drew blood and rushed him for a CAT scan which really didn’t show anything so they did another CAT scan with contrast, they then did a chest X-RAY which showed a few possible concerns. At this point the ER doc decided to transfer him to a bigger hospital near by via ambulance. We got here around 2:45am Monday morning, his pain was unbearable and impossible to get under control. Tuesday the blood draw from the previous location showed a infection. They took him for 3 MRI’s, a chest X-ray and a eco Cardiogram. The MRI’s showed a abscess in his spine. He is now considered septic as the infection is in his blood, they are trying to narrow down the exact bacteria so he can be placed on a specific antibiotic instead of being on high broad spectrum antibiotics. Today or tomorrow they are going to do a different form of a ECO that is internal, they will put him under and go in through his esophagus to check the back side of his heart and make sure the valve is not infected. They notified us today he will be staying here in the ICU for the next two weeks at least and then he will get a pick line placed and will be home 6-8 weeks on IV antibiotics. This is going to be a major financial strain as he will not be able to go back to work for a while. I will keep updating as I am able. There is a lot of information being thrown at us but this is the gist of it. Thank you all for your support!
