My husband Damian, father of 4 was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer October 2017. He has been fighting it mostly the traditional way for over a year. He has had over 16 rounds of IV chemo that stopped working, a liver resection that there was too much cancer to actually do a resection, 2 pulmonary embolisms, sepsis, 2 treatments of Y90 radiation to his liver, local radiation to his rectum and oral chemo. He is now at the end of the traditional treatment plan... He has one type of oral chemo he can take and is on the waiting list for an immunotherapy clinical trial. It has been a long fight but his has not given up hope. He is truly a strong, amazing person!
His last chemo option he has decided against, due to the side effects, low amount of results and other factors.
Instead he is going to do a more natural approach, he has done things over the last year or so with supplements and herbals remedies and some dietary change. But because of the costs we have not been able to fully commit to these changes for him in the past.
At this time, he is jumping in full force and seeing a natural doctor, complete diet change and looking to be diligent as this being his only treatment plan. He is on the list for a immunotherapy clinical trial, and we hope he will be also accepted to this soon.
He is hoping to improve his quality of life and slow down growth.
He has been unable to work and is on disability and I am only able to work part time jobs in order to be available for him and our kids as a caregiver. I have tried to take a 3rd job but it was just too much. This new treatment plan includes me taking off more work to help support his treatment plans and/or arranging rides for him which puts added stress on us financially. Since at this point I am only able to work part-time I am going to try to avoid this as much as possible but it may not be possible.
He is not always well enough to be home with the kids by himself, or even to be home by himself. So most of the time if I am working I need to make arrangements for someone to be there with him and arrangements if he needs to go anywhere
Damian's Plan going forward
He is changing to a mostly organic ketogenic diet plus whole grains, he is receiving treatments at the Lotus-be-well center in Hartford and the Float Oasis in Brookfield, he is also taking several herbal and nutrient supplements. We are still getting all of the details finalized and will be working on them through out the next week, so we can have a good daily treatment plan for him. A lot of these therapies focus on self healing and detoxing which he has put a lot of faith in.
Once he decided this was what he wanted to do and not do the last chemo, he said it was like a weight was lifted that he felt good and relief. He said he is confident in this is what he needs to do for him, and the right decision.
These therapies, supplements and diet changes cost a lot of money. This is why we have done them when and how we can, in the past year. But at this point I am willing to do whatever it takes to make sure I can be able to continue the treatment plans his natural practitioner recommends, for as long as needed. Please continue to share if you can. I am hoping to try to cover 2-3 months of care for him, perhaps a bit more. These funds will be used towards several different types of on-going therapies, supplements and organic food for him.
So humbly I am asking if you can help in any way possible make these a reality for him I would be forever beyond grateful.
We have an amazing support system that has helped us so much thus far, so it is hard for me to ask for more. So if all you can send is positive thoughts, vibes and prayers we are beyond grateful for the amazing continued love and support.
We don't know how much time we have but we are going to spend everyday trying to make it the best day yet!
Live for today because tomorrow is not promised!
