Hi everyone! I am Lindsey Baker, Damian's wife. Damian was born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. Damian was diagnosed at birth. When you have CF, it mainly affects the lungs, but also the digestive system and other organs. Damian has described it as having to breathe through a straw that is clogged 24 hours a day, or trying to breathe underwater. Can you imagine going about your daily life and struggling to just breathe even during the simplest of tasks?  Damian has that feeling every single day, making it difficult to do even the smallest things that most of us take for granted.  On a daily basis, he does several breathing treatments in the morning, afternoon and evening, having to cough intensely to try and clear out his lungs just so he can go about his day. 

While dealing with his CF and declining health, he still manages to be the most amazing Daddy to our 11 month old little boy. He is a true warrior and the strongest person I know. His attitude about his disease is that he can fight anything so he can continue to be around and be a role model for Greyson, our son. 

Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive disease  and although treatments are getting better every day, there is no cure. Damian's lung function has dropped dramatically the last few months and he is now on oxygen full time. Ourselves and his amazing team of doctors have decided it is time for a double lung transplant. At end of stage Cystic Fibrosis,  this is the only choice. Damian was listed with UCSF on July 3, 2018 for a double lung transplant.

Our call for lungs could come at any moment. There are large costs associated with transplant  and we will have to relocate to San Francisco and take time off work. Damian's healing after transplant will be most important and it is highly recommended that we fundraise money so that we don't have the added stress of financial issues.

We will be having a fundraiser here in Napa on September 8th. Many people cannot attend or live far away and have asked how they could donate so it was decided Go Fund Me is the most recognized and easiest place to ask for transplant donation costs.
